The Enchanted Garden
As part of a themed gift shop and cafe this redundant room had previously been used for storage. The only available light came from a skylight on the ceiling. Using traditional grid methods the images which were taken from a real tomb were transferred to the wall and painted in authentic colours. The back wall was made to look like there was a long corridor with a shaft of light and stone work around the door frame. The ouside of the room was painted to look like stone too. Inside the tomb were small artefacts, one or two original while others were reproductions. The room was atmospherically lit and scents were used to create the aroma of embalming oils.
